What is on location, natural light photography?

It's a custom photography experience, different from the process and photos through major chains. You select the location and there are no "posed" shots. Children and families are free to explore, relax, and have fun while their photos are taken. Many clients tell me I "captured their child's personality" and I think that's because I let children be themselves! I use only natural light because it's more flattering and produces much more "natural" results. Unlike photo chains, photos are also retouched to remove blemishes or imperfections. Best of all, no waiting in long lines!

There are lots of "photographers" out there. What sets you apart?

Anyone can pick up a "good camera" and take pictures. What sets me apart is my experience in BOTH taking photos and processing them. Photography is an art and each photo a work of art. Compare portfolios when choosing a photographer! Are their images dark or out of focus? Are skin tones correct or does everyone look all yellow?

How can I book a session?

Click the contact tab on my website, select a date and the type of session you are looking for and you will automatically receive information and a quote. Sessions are not booked until I receive the retainer fee and signed contract.

What is the best time to have maternity photos?

Between 32-35 weeks is ideal.

What is the best time for newborn photos?

The best time for newborn photos is 14 days or younger. Babies are most cooperative and sleepy during the first days the of life. Newborn sessions typically take at least 2 hours and are done at your home, I come to you! You can book a newborn session with me here and request me as your photographer.

Where are sessions located?

Sessions take place at local parks, the beach, gardens or outdoor locations. I specialize in natural-light photography, so any area with good light and foliage works. Get creative!

What about studio photography?

I offer studio photography for first birthday sessions only.

What time are sessions?

Sessions take place early evening and usually take about an hour. Newborn sessions are scheduled for the morning. Please arrive to your session promptly as good photos are dependent on available light.

What should we wear?

Newborn: nude is best, tiny hats/headbands, please no outfits! They look bulky on babies and don't photograph well.

Maternity: jeans, basic tank top, cute dress, dressy top or a stunning maternity gown by Roses and Ruffles  or TAOPAN for a unique maternity look. Don't be afraid to wear clothing that is not maternity! Ultrasound photos, small baby keepsakes and baby shoes make good props.

Families/Children: Pick a clothing style (casual, dressy casual or formal) and stick to it for the whole group. It's best to select two coordinating colors and rather than having everyone match. When in doubt, select a one color and pair it with white.

With all sessions, I recommend avoiding wearing sneakers. Sandals, dress shoes, heels and even flip flops are a better option.

When will I receive my images?

There will be a sample images posted on my Facebook page (required) within one-two weeks of the session. You will receive a private online gallery of images from your session on my website within two weeks.  You can access your proof gallery my clicking on the "client access" tab and signing in with your password. You can order digital images, prints, canvases, and photo products directly from my website until your proof gallery expires. You can also share your gallery with family and friends.

How many images will I receive?

You can expect at least 50 edited, digital images from your session.  To uphold the integrity of my work, I do not release unedited images or permit clients to alter images in any way after the session. That includes using Instagram filters on images.

How can I order prints?

I offer high quality prints on 100 year archival quality paper. The color is rich and highly accurate. Prints can be ordered directly from your online proofing gallery by adding to cart. Print color accuracy is NOT guaranteed through other photo labs.

Yes, print products are available to add to cart through your proofing gallery.
